In Karuizawa, rich wetlands still remain scattered throughout the landscape.
Over time, some have been carefully preserved as reservoirs and artificial lakes through human hands.
Behind a life lived in harmony with nature lies the quiet accumulation of endless human effort.
As I created this piece, I found myself reflecting on this invisible “time.”
The delicate lines stretching across the canvas—created through scratching and hatching—are the traces of each single stroke I layered.
Quietly spreading across the lakebed like a web, the complex water plants appear as a microcosm of nature’s invisible network of circulation.
Through these layered lines, I hope you can feel the breath of nature and the relentless passage of time.
